Washington, D.C. is the nation’s capital, and it is a great place to explore if you are on a budget. From dining to attractions, the city is very diverse in the many things that one could do while visiting. When you tour the city, you will learn that politics is not all the city has to offer citizens of this great country.

The best hotel to book at when you are on a budget is the Residence Inn by Marriot. Here, you can find rooms for as low as $54 per night. The amenities here include an indoor pool and a fitness center. If you are not up for getting out on the town, a nice dip in the pool will surely keep you occupied.

Once you have booked your hotel, you should really focus on some of the local attractions. For families who travel to Washington, D.C., the National Zoo is the best place to go. The zoo is free of charge, and the giant pandas, Mei Xiang and Tian Tian, are the primary focus of the research and breeding program in the zoo, but there are other exhibits to see as well.

The Rock Creek Park is great for getting out at night and doing some space exploration. The park has a planetarium that has free night tours of the star-filled sky. This is something that people of all ages will enjoy.

If you are able to handle high-stress situations, you might be able to catch a show while you are visiting Washington, D.C.

At this café, authors come to give lectures and speeches, and they autograph books for the people who are willing to listen. Not only is this a great educational experience and a chance to meet someone famous, but it is absolutely free to sit in on.

Washington, D.C. has played a major political role in the United States for many years, and now it can go on the list of budget friendly places to visit as well. The city has many functions that are available throughout the year that cost nothing or next to nothing. If you are going to travel to Washington, D.C., you may want to stop by the White House, and see if there are any political rallies happening.
