Vacation Resorts in San Diego

San Diego is one of the country's most charming and eclectic coastal towns with a mix of fancy resorts, quaint bungalows, and affordable beachside inns. Their population of resorts is immense and provides families with a slew of choices when they're booking a long-awaited vacation.

Paradise Point

Paradise Point sits on peaceful Mission Bay right in the heart of San Diego. Rooms are quaint bungalows surrounded by lush landscaped gardens, quiet lagoons, and a private beach that is right next door to SeaWorld. Each room has either garden, lagoon, or bay views with private patios. The entire island is 44 acres with five swimming pools, bonfire pits on the beach, five dining rooms, and a luxury spa.

The Baleen restaurant is located on the beach so guests can enjoy fine dining with the sounds of the water next to them. The Barefoot Bar and Grill offers a more relaxed atmosphere, perfect for those shorts and tank top dinners at the end of a long day while the poolside Caveman Pizza Company is sure to delight the kids.

Kona Kai Resort and Marina

Hanging on to the tip of beautiful Shelter Island, Kona Kai is fully equipped with sparkling pools, a private beach, a fitness center, and a marina. For the more adventurous guests, they can rent a kayak or paddleboard and hit the water to sight some local wildlife like pelicans or sea lions. This resort is completely family friendly with activities like s'mores night, "dive-in" movie night, and hopping beach parties.

Guestrooms all have private patios; depending on the room, guests can have a marina or pool view. Rooms are complete with coffee service, mini refrigerators, 42 inch televisions, and free WiFi.

Catamaran Resort

The Catamaran Resort touts itself as San Diego's finest beach resort and with its unique amenities, it certainly is considered that by others. The grounds are covered by lush gardens with over 1,000 types of plants and flowers and 30 types of hibiscus, creating a relaxing oasis of man made nature. The hotel has a variety of tropical birds like Macaw parrots, Cockatoos, hummingbirds, and colorful waterfowl. The exotic bird room allows guests to get up close and personal with these residents and learn a little about their care.

Each room has its own lovely view, either of the bay or the gardens. Rooms all have full sized tubs with showers, a patio or balcony with comfortable chairs, a breakfast table, and a plasma TV. Suites provide direct access to the sandy beaches and have wet bars, refrigerators, plasma TVs, and a sofa bed.

The onsite award winning Atoll Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as Sunday brunch. The Moray Lounge serves delicious cocktails and lighter fare, making it a great spot for cozy dinners for two.

Resort vacations don't have to take place on tropical islands in the Caribbean. Staying at a resort hotel is a vacation in itself as a resort has all of the necessary amenities to have a full blown vacation without ever having to leave the resort's grounds.
