Traveling in Turtlenecks: An 'Archer' Inspired Vacation Guide

10. Canada

Season 3, Episode 6: "The Limited"
Season 4, Episode 4: "Midnight Ron"

In “The Limited,” Archer, Lana, and the gang transport a suspected terrorist back to Canada via a train that Cheryl's family owns, while a gang attempt to hijack the train. Despite being banned from the country, he wound up back in Montreal in “Midnight Ron.” For a show-inspired vacation, sip Irish coffees while riding the Rocky Mountaineer train through Canada’s countryside and maybe check out the awesome ocelots at the Toronto Zoo.

9. Space

Season 3, Episodes 12 & 13: "Space Race: Part I & II"

Archer’s team (and a few stowaways) are called to the space station Horizon to quell a mutiny—but the mutiny turns out to be a ruse, and the insane Commander Drake was simply luring Lana to the station, hoping to have her join him in a plot to colonize Mars. Of course, real-life space tourism is in its infancy, but companies like Virgin Galactic and SpaceX are trying new things every day in their quest to make this a more affordable and accessible option.

8. Colombia

Season 5, Episode 7: "Archer Vice: Smugglers' Blues"
Season 5, Episode 8: "Archer Vice: The Rules of Extraction"

Hopefully, your visit to Colombia won’t look anything like the Archer gang’s since they were there during their drug-running days. But there are plenty of reasons to visit Colombia. The capital, Bogota is a great destination for graffiti fans due to the practice being legal there. From Bogota's historic center to the gorgeous Andean coffee region, there’s a long list of incredible things to see and do here that doesn’t involve getting arrested for selling drugs to a police officer.

7. French Polynesia

Season 3 Episodes 1 - 3: "Heart of Archness: Part I, II, & III"

After the loss of his fiancee Katya, Archer ran away to French Polynesia, working as a bartender and drowning his sorrows in booze and newlyweds. Hopefully, you won’t wind up commandeering a pirate gang after a failed extraction, but there are plenty of places—like Bora Borawhere you can kick back and relax on the beach with an old fashioned or fruity cocktails.

6. Miami, Florida

Season 1, Episode 5: "Honeypot"
Season 5, Episode 2: "A Kiss While Dying"

In the first season, Archer travels to Miami to seduce and compromise Ramon Limon, a secret agent for Fidel Castro. Later in season 5, when the gang find themselves out of a job and working as drug dealers, they return to Miami to try and establish a business relationship. It works about as well as you’d expect. While you’re here, take in some sun, sip coffee on the sidewalk, admire the beaches, and play a little jai alai. It’s the most dangerous game, you know.

5. Vatican City

Season 4, Episode 11: "The Papal Chase"

When the gang learns of a plot to assassinate the Pope, they initiate “Operation Bad Habit” to rescue him using Woodhouse as a decoy. Not much special to drink in this episode—just Mallory sipping her scotchbut there’s plenty to do and see while you’re here in Vatican City. St. Peter’s Basilica is legendary, not to mention the Apostolic Palace (featuring the Sistine Chapel, among other things) and the Vatican Museums. Of course, the Vatican holds special significance for Catholics, but anyone who appreciates art, the Renaissance, or simply the good food and wine of the region will find the trip well worth their while.

4. Louisiana

Season 2, Episode 4: "Pipeline Fever"

It may not be as glamorous as some of his destinations, but the bayous of Louisiana are important to Sterling. It's here that he faced, and...sort-of conquered his three greatest fears: alligators, crocodiles, and brain aneurysms. If you're near New Orleans, be sure to grab a Hurricane. It's one of the city's signature drinks. And while Archer never mentioned trying a Sazerac, we're sure he'd approve.

3. Gstaad, Switzerland

Season 2, Episode 1: "Swiss Miss"

The upscale Swiss resort town where Archer was charged with protecting a billionaire’s daughter is actually real, and it’s hard to imagine that you won’t have a better time than Archer did. “Swiss Miss” was classic Archer, turning the tables on the super spy’s womanizing ways and giving us his first brush with self-awareness, setting someone’s face on fire in the process. Hit the slopes, check out the luxury resorts, mind your shaving kit, and maybe try a Green Russian for kicks.

2. Monaco

Season 2, Episode 11: "Jeu Monégasque"

Monaco is one of the world's most glamorous destinations, and even though Bond only visited once, it's the kind of place people associate with jet-setting spies. Drink some champagne, take in the Grand Prix, and play baccarat at the Monte Carlo—just maybe try not to lose $4 million.

1. San Marino

Season 1, Episode 8: "The Rock"

Archer and Lana are only here long enough to try and steal a diamond guarded by a rival security firm, but setting a story in San Marino at all is notably cool. This microstate is the third smallest country in Europe. San Marino has one of the highest GDP-per-capita figures in the world, no national debt, and one of the lowest rates of unemployment in Europe. This is a great place to try out a tactical turtleneck, and while Archer was actually sober for his mission, you can never go wrong with melon balls.
