Would you guess that Maryland is one of the most dangerous states in the nation?

  • Baltimore is especially bad. The city has 583,588 residents.
  • There were 7,041 violent crimes in 2022.
  • Not only is that number worrying on its own, but that’s a crime rate of 12 per 1,000 people.

Baltimore, Maryland

Property crimes were a huge concern as well, with 16,542 property crime cases in 2022. Considering the large number of crimes in the city, it may be safe to say that not much has changed since the times of The Wire. The city still has a lot of cleaning up to do and a lot of work to be done to keep crime down.
