Here's How Vaccination is Going in Each State

The state of Wyoming currently has had 12.5% of its population receive at least one dose of the vaccine, which is pretty good as it is higher than the national level.

The population that has received both doses in the state is 4.7%.  It's important to remember that you need to wait at least 21 days to get the second dose, and try not to delay it more than six weeks. Currently, the state of Wyoming has administered 99,099 vaccines and distributed 122,200, which in other terms, means that 81% of the vaccines have been used.

Vermont has had 11.7% of its population vaccinated with at least one dose. This is lower than the percentage of Wyoming's population but at least about the same as the national level.

Vermont is doing a slightly better job than Wyoming in getting their second dose, as they have 5.4% of its population getting both doses so far. There have been 106,787 vaccines administered out of 138,025, accounting for 77% of doses used.

Alaska has the highest percentage of the population that has received at least one dose of the vaccine at an astonishing 17.3%. However, they aren't getting their second doses.

The percentage of the population with both doses in Alaska is just 7.8%.  Out of 271,550 vaccines distributed, 183,831 have been administered. That's only 68% used out of what is available to the public.

North Dakota has 13% of the population receiving their first dose, which is higher than the national level at 11.5%.

The population that has received their second doses is 6.2%. Out of 155,375 vaccines, 148,916 were used – a whopping 96%. Good job North Dakota!

South Dakota has 12.4% of the population with at least one vaccination dose. Again, that number is higher than the national estimate.

At 5.7%, the population that has had both doses is somewhat significant but there's still a lot of people waiting on their second dose. Out of 182,025, 160,223 vaccines have been used – a percentage of 88%.

The population of Delaware that has had at least one dose of the COVID vaccine is 11.8%.

But of the population, only a mere 3.2% have received both doses. So far, Delaware has used 78% of their COVID vaccines, having administered 146,437 out of 188,075.

Rhode Island has the lowest rate of vaccinated people among the population. Only 9.2% have been given at least one dose.

They aren't the worst, however, when it comes to getting the second dose, as 4.2% of the population have had both doses. But with only 141,155 vaccines used out of 228,650 vaccines distributed, it's clear Rhode Island is not taking the pandemic seriously enough.

Montana has reportedly administered at least one dose to 11.9% of its population.

A mere 4.6% received both doses in the state. Out of 199,825 vaccines distributed to the state of Montana, 176,810, or rather, 88% were used.

About 10.5% of Maine's population have been vaccinated so far.

However, the population that has received a second dose of the vaccine is just 3.7%. With 299,375 vaccines distributed and only 193,246 used, the vaccine has only been 65% utilized.

Like Maine, about 10.5% of New Hampshire's population has also received their first COVID shots.

They do have a slightly higher percentage of people who have had both shots, as it is reportedly 4.5%. Among 311,875 vaccines, however, only 208,541 of them have been administered.

The 11.5% of the population of Hawaii that has had their first dose of the COVID vaccine, has less than perfect numbers in terms of both doses.

Only 4.4% of Hawaiians have had both doses. It's important to remember that the shot is nearly twice as effective with both shots. Out of 310,600 shots distributed, the number of administered shots is 225,188, which translates to 73% shots used.

West Virginia has the second-highest percentage of its population getting at least their first vaccine dose – at 13.8%.

The percentage of people in West Virginia getting both doses is 7.7%. Out of 395,600 vaccines, an impressive 386,583 vaccines have been used for a total of 98% of vaccines used. This likely means that West Virginians just don’t have access to the second dose yet.

Idaho has had 9.8% of the population receive at least one dose, which is on the lower side but not as bad when it comes to both doses.

At 3.2%, Idaho has the second-lowest percentage of people who have had both shots administered. There have been 329,575 shots distributed and 242,295 of them have been used. In other words, 74% of the vaccines are used so far.

Nebraska has vaccinated 10.1%  of its population with at least one dose.

The state has administered second doses of the vaccine to 4.6% of the population. There have been 407,500 vaccines distributed and 285,708 shots used – which is 70%.

About 13.7% of New Mexico residents and non-residents are getting their first doses, making it the third-best at getting its population vaccinated.

At 6.1%, the population getting its second dose is less than half. However, this seems to have to do with availability as 419,882 out of 429,950 doses have been used, which is 98%.

In Kansas, 9.9%  of the population have been given at least their first dose of the COVID 19 shot.

Among the population, a mere 3.4% have been given their second vaccine doses. Kansas had 581,975 vaccines distributed so far with 389,983 of them having been used, which is about 67%.

Mississippi has 10.5% of its population vaccinated so far.

But - only 3.8% have received their second dose of the vaccine. Among 614,100 vaccines, only 427,198 of them were used, which means 70% of them have been used thus far.

Arkansas is doing fairly well with 11.2% at least partially vaccinated.

Among the population, 4.3% have received both doses. So far 75% of Arkansas's distributed vaccines have been used, with 472,536 out of 630,700 used in total.

Nevada has had at least 10.5% of the population receive its first COVID shot.

Nevada has one of the lowest percentages when it comes to the population getting both doses as it is only 3.2% Still, of 534,775, the number of used vaccines was 428,423 – 80%.

Iowa residents and non-residents are 10.6% vaccinated among the population.

The amount of the population who have both doses of the vaccine is 3.7%. Reportedly, there were 597,725 vaccines distributed and a total of 456,512 of them were used – 76%.

Utah has the second-lowest percentage of people who are vaccinated with at least one dose at 9.6%.

It also has the third-lowest percentage of people vaccinated with both shots at 3.3%. However, among 579,700 vaccines, 510,267 have been used, or rather 88%. This means that the state is just not getting enough vaccines distributed.

Connecticut has administered vaccinations to 13.3% of its population, but the number of second doses is on the low side.

Out of the population, only 5.4% has had both doses. An impressive 854,725 vaccines have been distributed and 674,704     have been used, but that actually means only 79% of them have been used, so there's still a lot more work to do.

The percentage of Oklahoma's population who have had at least one dose is 12.1%.

When it comes to both doses, 5.1% are fully vaccinated with the COVID shot. About 816,650 shots were distributed and 682,354 were used – an astonishing 84%.

Oregon residents and non-residents are getting their fair share of vaccines but so far only 11.3% have been vaccinated.

Among their numbers, 4.6% of the population have received both doses. The number of distributed vaccines was 841,550, and 671,315 of them were used – that's 80%.

Kentucky has vaccinated 10.9%  of its population with at least one dose.

The percentage of those with both doses is 4.2%. Out of 892,100 distributed vaccines, 678,768 have been used, which is actually only 76%.

Louisiana is doing fairly well with what they have available to them. The percent of the population with at least one dose is 11.2%.

The percentage of the population with both doses is 5.4%. Among the 895,150 vaccines distributed, Louisiana has used 769,155 of them – 86%.

Alabama has administered their first doses to as much as 9.7% but are really struggling to get second doses to the people.

Alabama has the lowest percentage of the population with both doses, compared to any other state in the country. Just 2.8% of the population has been fully vaccinated for the virus. Of 965,550 vaccines, 612,254 have been used – which is 63%.

South Carolina has vaccinated 10.2% of residents with the first doses.

The 3.3% of residents and non-residents in South Carolina that have received both doses is one of the lowest percentages in the country. There were 891,650 vaccines distributed, and 704,186 have been used – accounting for 79% of the population.

The 11.4% of Minnesota's population has had their first vaccinations but the number of second doses is on the lower side.

Among the population of Minnesota, 4% have been given both doses. So far 1,132,350 vaccines have been distributed and 870,743 have been used. This is a total percentage of 77% used.

Colorado has had 11% of the population get their first COVID shots.

Also among Colorado's numbers, 5.1% have received their second doses. So far, 1,210,475 vaccines have been distributed and 926,807 have been used – 77%.

About 12.2% of Wisconsin's population have been inoculated with their first dose.

The population percentage to have received both doses is 4%. Out of 1,082,100 vaccines, 955,412 have been used, reportedly. That is 88% usage of all the available vaccines.

Maryland's population has been inoculated with the first doses up to 10.2%.

The percentage of the population with both doses is 3.8%. Among 1,193,075 distributed vaccines, 850,994 have been used, which is 71%.

Missouri has now vaccinated 10% of its population with at least the first dose.

An estimated 3.7% of the population has been vaccinated with both doses. Among 1,129,975 distributed vaccines, 848,026 of them have been used. The total percentage of used vaccines is 75%.

Indiana has administered 11.4% of the population with their first shots.

About 4.3% of the population has received the required two doses for optimal effectiveness. With 1,388,375 distributed vaccines and 1,058,874 vaccines used, 76% have been used so far.

Tennessee has administered 9.7% of the population with at least one COVID inoculation.

Of all Tennessee's residents and non-residents, 4.4% of the population has had both doses. Totaling 71%, 967,085 out of 1,361,700 vaccines have been used.

Massachusetts has vaccinated 11.9% with at least one dose of the COVID shot.

Also, among the population, 3.8% have received both shots. Having only used 72% of the vaccines distributed, Massachusetts still has much work to do with the supply it has. There were 1,502,925 vaccines distributed and 1,085,584 of them were used.

Around 11.5% of the population of Arizona has been vaccinated with at least one shot.

However, when it comes to both shots, Arizona has only administered 3.4% of the public. With 1,393,575 distributed vaccines and 1,089,155 used, over 300,000 have not yet been used. That is a total of 78%.

Washington state has vaccinated 11.4% of the population with their first dose, at least.

On the downside, only 3.7% have been inoculated with both doses. Out of a total of 1,437,825, 1,166,471 vaccines were used – aka 81%.

Virginia has 11.8% of the population with at least one COVID vaccination dose.

Out of the population, 3.8% of them have both doses. With 1,596,425 distributed vaccines and 1,355,231, utilization has been around 85%.

The population of New Jersey has been vaccinated up to 11.2% with at least their first shot.

The percentage of people with both shots is currently at 4%. Out of the 1,776,775, reportedly 1,349,327have been used, which means over 400,00 haven't been. This also means just 76% have been used.

Michigan is doing fairly well considering its resources. They have administered first doses to 11% of their population.

The percentage of Michigan's population with both doses is 4.9%. Currently, there have been 1,604,973 COVID vaccines used out of 1,919,975 – a total of 84%.

North Carolina, with 11.1% of its population vaccinated with the first COVID dose, is doing an okay job.

They, so far, have 4.3% of the population inoculated with both doses. There are 2,067,725 distributed vaccines available and 1,617,435 have been used – 78%.

Georgia has 9.7% of its population inoculated with the first dose of the COVID shot.

The percentage of the population with both doses, however, is just 3.6%. So far, there have been 1,437,718 vaccines used out of 2,020,275 vaccines distributed, accounting for 71% of available vaccines.

The state of Ohio has administered at least one dose to 10.6% of the population.

Ohio has administered both doses of the COVID vaccine to 3.8%. Ohio has 2,315,100 vaccines available to them but only 1,691,925 of them have been used – around 73%.

Illinois has vaccinated 11.2% of its population with their first dose but the percentage of the population with second doses is much lower.

Currently, only 3.2% of Illinois residents and non-residents have been inoculated with both doses. A total of 2,566,675 have been distributed, and 1,854,228, or rather, 72% have been used.

Pennsylvania has had 10.6% of its population vaccinated with their first doses.

The percentage of residents and non-residents with both doses is 3.5%. Among 2,689,425 distributed vaccines, 1,822,327 of them have been used, meaning that only 68% of them have been used.

New York has so far vaccinated 10.3% of the population with the first doses.

Out of all residents and non-residents, 4.3% of them have received both doses. There are currently 3,969,050 vaccines available to New York but with only 2,925,186, there are over a million not being used yet, which means only 74% of the vaccines have been administered.

Florida's at least partially-vaccinated population sits at 11%.

The percentage of the population with both doses is 5%. Among 4,514,300 distributed vaccines, 3,467,856 of them have been used. This is an estimated 77% of vaccines used.

Texas has administered first doses to 10.2% of the people in the state.

Among their population, an estimated 4% has received both doses. The state has had 5,099,325 vaccines distributed and 4,133,747 of them have been used - and that is 81% of them.

As the state with the biggest population, California has a tall order to fill. Thus far, only 11.4% of the population has been vaccinated.

The population of California with both doses is at just 3.3%, tying with several other states for the second-lowest percentage. California has received 8,059,325 vaccines, but only 5,820,388 have been used, which means over 2 Million vaccines are just sitting there. Altogether that’s the utilization of 72% of available vaccines. Get vaccinated, California!

Given that it's not a state, it stands to reason that Washington D.C.'s numbers are all on the lower end because the order to fill is just a lot smaller.  It's also important to note that vaccines are being administered in order of priority, which means that the elderly and immune-compromised will be getting their shots first.

Thus far, 7.2% of D.C.'s population has been vaccinated.  The percentage of people who have received both shots is 2.5%.  Currently, 127,535 vaccines have been administered to residents and non-residents.
