American Foods Other Countries Find Disgusting

It seems like other countries are always crapping on American food. Either we don’t know how to make food, or our food tastes disgusting. Americans, however, obviously love the food. Some of the stuff we come up with is creative and delicious. It isn’t our fault we came up with the ideas first.

People who visit our country have regular complaints about the food we’ve been eating since childhood. From our peanut butter to our desserts, nothing is safe. We scoured Reddit and Quora for the common foods that people say they hated when visiting our country.

Some of these entries make total sense, but some of them confuse the heck out of us. Listen, ranch and pizza are delicious. You can’t knock it until you’ve tried it.

One Redditor claimed that Australians watched them eat this classic school lunch sandwich in disgust. Why? Well, they claimed that it looked like dog food.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches

Uh, their loss. We don’t think a country that eats vegemite can really comment on our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Did you know...

  • Minnesota might say that it's the "Land of 10,000 Lakes," but Canada has it beat. The country as a whole has over three million lakes. That means Canada has 60% of the world's total number of lakes within its borders. It must seem like paradise for people who like to fish or boat!
  • Even though it is spread across five time zones, the entire country of China is set to Beijing time. Having a single time zone in the United States would certainly make things easier. Currently, the USA is spread across six, but a single time zone would make things a little wonky in Alaska and Hawai'i.
  • The largest pool in the world can be found at the San Alfonso del Mar resort in Chile. It has 66 million gallons (enough water to fill 100 Olympic-sized pools). It's 3,323 feet in length, over twice the length of the next biggest pool. At a cost of $3,000,000, that sounds like a pretty good deal.
  • Jet lag is worse when you're traveling from west to east. That's because the changes in time zones become not only more physically apparent on your body, but they are also more culturally apparent. If restaurants close at 10pm on the East Coast, you'll just be getting hungry since it will feel like 7pm on your West Coast-adjusted body.
  • The longest flight in the world is between Singapore and Newark, New Jersey. Depending on which way you're flying, it takes around 18.5 hours to complete the 9,534 miles of the journey. The flight is so long that it doesn't even have an economy class. Only first-class and business-class arrangements are offered.
