The Luxurious Tropicana Las Vegas

Initially built in 1956, the eventual owners completed the Tropicana Las Vegas with significant changes due to sale, twice, in 1961. Thereafter, the hotel and casino had several abrupt shutdowns due to bankruptcy and criminal investigations. A group of its creditors purchased the hotel out of bankruptcy and organized it into its present form in 2009. This group promptly undertook a massive renovation of the property and incorporated a theme based upon South Beach in Miami. The ownership group included veteran executives from the MGM Mirage.

Hotel Features

The ownership established the Tropicana Las Vegas brand and renovated the hotel property entirely to create one of the largest casino hotels in the country. The hotel style is a blend of Caribbean influences and South Beach Miami themes, including a flagship restaurant, The Biscayne, and more than 50,000 square feet of gaming space with 850 slot machines. In January 2013, Doubletree Hilton franchised the Hotel for overall operations. Hilton has improved the South Beach theme, and it is one of the leading destinations on the famous Las Vegas Strip, with renovated rooms and common areas and highly rated service. Located less than 4 miles from the Las Vegas Convention Center, the Tropicana features a multi-acre beach club including Glow, a 10,000-square-foot Mandarin Spa.

The hotel has a live entertainment venue called the Laugh Factory, and it features two shows nightly: a comedy act and a nightly exclusive, a live magic show featuring Murray the Magician. This show is somewhat unusual in that the audience completely surrounds the stage. The casino is a large area with leaded glass ceilings. It offers traditional gaming including slot machines and numerous gaming tables. There is an indoor shopping mall, which features many elegant boutiques. Hotel amenities include Wi-Fi, 46” Plasma TV, cable service, toiletries, fitness facilities, city or mountain views, pillow-top bedding, and individual climate controls.

Dining

The Tropicana offers elegant and casual dining. The Biscayne is a steakhouse style restaurant featuring choice meat cuts and fresh seafood. With a relaxed atmosphere, it has casual yet stylish dining. The Biscayne serves premium cuts of meat and top-grade fish. Open nightly for dinner, the Biscayne is open every day of the week. The Bacio Italian Cuisine is a Trattoria-style restaurant, which serves authentic Italian dishes. The Bacio is open daily for dinner. The Hotel offers casual food service including breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the Beach Cafe, which is open 24 hours per day. The South Beach Food Court located adjacent to the Casino floor offers casual meals and snacks. It is open daily from late morning through the late evening.
