Sanibel Island Inns and Cottages

Sanibel Island is a barrier island just off Florida's southwest coast and only a 45-minute drive from the city of Fort Myers. You can get to it via a causeway where you will pay a $6 toll. The island is 12 miles long and four miles wide with approximately 5,600 year-round residents. Before visiting, you should note that the population here can grow dramatically during the winter and spring (especially February to May) which is the prime tourist season. The island is known for its shelling beaches, which can provide lots of souvenirs if you want to spend some time strolling and collecting seashells. Sanibel Island has over 17 miles of beaches altogether.

  1. Sanibel Anchor Inn

    This inn is located near the bike path on Periwinkle Way, which means that you will have an easy route to the island’s lighthouse and causeway. You will also have access to the public golf courses and tennis courts in the area. There are amenities available such as a heated pool, cable TV and wireless Internet. You will also be able to rent bikes on the property.

  2. Seahorse Cottages

    These cottages are located just a short walk away from San Carlos Bay, which you will find is excellent for shelling. Also nearby are a nature trail, a fishing pier and a marina. Bicycles at Seahorse Cottages are complimentary; other amenities include cable TV, queen beds and private entrances at the front and rear.

  3. Sunshine Island Inn

    Located near the Sanibel River and the island's southeast coast, the Sunshine Island Inn is surrounded by palm trees. Nearby there is the JN Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge which is widely known for its abundance of birds. Amenities at the inn include private patios for each cottage and charcoal grills for each patio. You will also have access to a pool, a table for cleaning shells and cable TV.

  4. The Parrot Nest

    This inn has been providing guests with a welcoming atmosphere since the mid-1950s and its rooms are decorated to reflect the style of that decade. Its location on Ahinga Lane offers easy access to some of Sanibel's best shelling beaches as well as to the lighthouse and to a variety of restaurants as well. Amenities include air conditioning, free wireless Internet and laundry facilities.

  5. The Driftwood Inn

    Its location on Donax Street allows guests at the Driftwood Inn to get to Sanibel's beaches easily as well as to a variety of shops and places to eat. You also get amenities such as beach chairs and umbrellas in addition to queen sized beds and central air conditioning.

Aside from its shelling beaches, Sanibel Island also offers a variety of sights and things to do. There are numerous stores if you want to go shopping, as well as many good restaurants and over 26 miles of bike trails.
