When visiting the city of San Francisco there is a large assortment of restaurants available to you. While it is impossible to eat at every single restaurant even while living in the city, there are several that are going to stand out above the other restaurant options. Due to this, you should at least know what restaurants you need to plan on checking out during your trip, no matter how long your stay is in the city.
Bar Tartine Mission District
This is a local favorite and a must while in the city. The flavors are a combination of foods and spices from Hungary, Denmark, California and Japan. So, whether you want to enjoy incredible potato bread or some of the best sandwiches in the entire city, this is the place to check out. Best of all, you are not going to break the bank while visiting the restaurant as you can purchase a meal starting around $9 and a sandwich starting around $12.
ICHI Sushi Mission District
San Francisco is one of the few locations in the United States that is actually going to have fresh sushi available year round. Any other location not found on the coast is going to have problems with obtaining fresh fish. However, this is not an issue while in San Francisco or while visiting ICHI Sushi. Here, you are going to experience a mixture of traditional and California based suchi, and best of all, the prices are tough to beat as a traditional roll is going to start at $3.50.
Napalito Panhandle and Inner Sunset
With two locations, you are able to experience the food that provides some of the best regional Mexican food around. It is different from the traditional Mexican food (which is more Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican) than what you have experienced in other areas of the city. The casual atmosphere is excellent and it is someplace where you don't have to dress up, yet still can experience some of the very best food the city has to offer. Best of all, you are going to find that the meals are not going to kill your budget, as main dishes start at $10. Just make sure to order one of the delicious margaritas from the numerous tequilas the restaurant has in stock.
SPQR Upper Fillmore
This is a small restaurant, as there are only a handful of tables. In fact, there are almost more available seats at the bar top than there are in individual tables. Due to this, you might want to call ahead and make a reservation at the Italian themed restaurant. Thankfully, it does not hit you over the head with the gaudy, over the top Mediterranean/Italian decor that most chain Italian restaurants utilize. Instead, it is simple, yet elegant and provides you with some of the very best menu items around when you want Italian food. Additionally, pasta dishes start around $20 and a main course meal is going to cost around $30, depending on what you want.
