Magical Experiences at the Magic Kingdom

One of the most visited amusement parks on the planet, the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort, offers guests an experience they will never forget. The Magic Kingdom is the centerpiece of the Walt Disney World Resort, with plenty of attractions for a full day's visit.

Those planning a visit to Orlando can make reservations and purchase tickets to this park online. Many hotels located nearby have special family plans that include tickets to the Magic Kingdom as well as to nearby Universal Studios and Epcot Center.

What To See And Do

The Cinderella Castle is one of the main draws at the park. The 190-foot tall castle is visible from all areas of the Magic Kingdom and is the premier landmark attraction. Visitors will love the colorful glass mosaics located inside the structure which tell the beloved story of Cinderella. The castle serves as the backdrop for the nighttime fireworks displays.

The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad offers plenty of excitement for visitors young and old. This rollercoaster attraction takes visitors past an Old West mining town, through tunnels, and across a desert landscape.

The Haunted Mansion is a spooky but fun adventure for children and adults. Wonderful displays of ghosts and goblins, a ghastly graveyard, and a chillingly realistic seance room are just a few of the attractions.

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin is one of the most popular attractions at the park. Visitors engage the enemy in a laser-fire space battle while traveling at high speeds around otherworldly objects.

Dining At The Park

There are many high-quality restaurants located at the Magic Kingdom. Some of these require advance reservations which can be completed online. Specialty establishments serve up authentic African, American, Asian, or European favorites.

Nearby Hotel Accommodations

The Walt Disney World Resort, including the Magic Kingdom, is located near many of the most popular hotels in Orange County. Most of these are located on or near International Drive, within a mile of the Orange County Convention Center. Some hotels have courtesy van or bus service to the park.

Getting Around

The monorail connects the Magic Kingdom with Epcot. There are two monorail tracks. To access Epcot, a transfer is needed at the Transportation and Ticket Center from the Magic Kingdom to the Epcot tracks. The Epcot station is located just outside the park's gates. The monorail stations are located adjacent to most of the visitor parking areas as well as inside some of the Disney hotels. There are also wheelchair access strips throughout the park area. Assistance for those who are wheelchair-bound is readily available.

Best Time To Visit

The park is open all year, and there is no slow season in terms of visitor density. Temperatures are milder during the winter months, but rainfall tends to be higher. Visitors should prepare for rain squalls by bringing light shell jackets.

Some activities, such as the fireworks displays, occur just before some attractions close for the evening. Extended hours for some restaurants and park attractions are in effect during certain calendar dates. The sit-down restaurants are at their busiest between 6:00p.m. and closing time. Trying to be seated without reservations may prove difficult in the evening.

Annual passes can be purchased for multiple visits, but these must be picked up in advance. Hotels in the nearby area have special discounts for multiple-entry tickets along with room reservations, but restrictions apply. Check with your specific hotel regarding these deals.
