Grand Canyon by Rail

The Grand Canyon rail tour is a way that you can see the canyon from a different perspective. There are several ways to ride the trains, and there are also numerous packages to choose from that offer meals or a short trip on the train.

The Pullman Car

One of the ways that you can ride is in the Pullman Car. This is a 1923 coach car that is ideal for those who want to take their time looking at the canyon. The seats flip so that families can look at each other, making it a wonderful way for children to ride on a train for the first time. The passenger service gives details of the train's history, and there are also Western entertainers on board the car that will provide singing and other treats to make the adventure comfortable.

Packages

The Railway Express is a package that includes rates for traveling in coach. You will spend one night at The Grand Canyon Railway Hotel. This is a basic trip where you can see the canyon and get a night away from home. It winds through the Ponderosa forest that is full of large pines. One of the packages that children will enjoy is the Polar Express. This also includes a night at The Grand Canyon Hotel. Dinner and breakfast are served while you are on the train. There are child-friendly dishes, and children might also see a little bit of Christmas magic while on the train as it travels to the North Pole. This is a way to completely get lost in the destination and travel on the train.

Other Options

Senior citizens have options as well if they want to view the canyon. There is a package for AARP members that offers discounts on ticket prices. Riders can select tours for two or three nights. Dinner and breakfast are served on the train, but lunch is up to the rider as the train will stop along the tour near the South Rim. Passengers will stay at The Grand Canyon Railway Hotel in Williams. Those who choose the Canyon Explorer Plus package will have 24 hours inside the Grand Canyon National Park.

The Canyon Limited is an option for those who want to spend the night amidst nature. There is a guided tour and a one-night's stay at the Maswik Lodge. This lodge is located right inside the park. One of the features is a motorcoach tour of the South Rim area. This provides more details of the canyon than the train does. Breakfast and dinner are served at the Grand Depot Café in Williams.
