All-Inclusive Packages on the Island of St. Martin

Part of the Leeward Islands, the island of St. Martin is actually split into two separate countries. The French side, on the north, is Saint Martin. The southern Dutch side is called Sint Maarten. Neither side is lacking in resorts, and while there aren't a ton of all-inclusive getaways, there are enough. Let's take a look at them.

Sonesta Great Bay Beach Resort, Casino & Spa

Sonesta Great Bay offers a wide variety of rooms, from smaller island view rooms to the Miramar two-bedroom butler suite. With that room comes a "limitless all-inclusive" stay that includes meals, snacks, drinks, a weekly cocktail party, free Wi-Fi, daily activities, and nightly entertainment. You also get a guest pass to the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort to use their facilities and restaurants. You even get a $10 play card for slots at the Casino Royale. Guests have to book a butler suite for room service, but anyone can request beach service. The four restaurants and four bar choices never hurt, either.

Sonesta Ocean Point

Sonesta Ocean Point is an all-inclusive "resort-within-a-resort" that is attached to Sonesta Maho. There are 129 suites furnished in warm neutrals designed to accentuate the colors of the sea. Each piece of furniture is custom-designed. The floors are Italian Modena porcelain, and the bathrooms are laid in Greek marble. While all of the facilities of Maho are available to you—five restaurants and five barsthere are also exclusive dining options for Ocean Point guestsprimarily the Azul Restaurant, which sits on the edge of a cliff, offering Mediterranean cuisine and a rooftop bar with a stunning view. There are also two additional bars available exclusively to Ocean Point visitors. The "limitless all-inclusive" package still nets you the same things as Great Bay's package—including a day pass to that resortbut here it also gets you VIP personal concierge service and 24-hour room service.

Riu Palace St. Martin

Sonesta's resorts sit on the Dutch side while Riu Palace St. Martin sits on the northwest coast of the French side in Anse Marcel. There are over 250 rooms and suites, with 24-hour room service, private patios, an infinity pool, four restaurants, and three bars, some of which are nestled amidst tropical gardens along the beach. The package includes gym and aqua gym activities, kayaking, snorkeling, and an intro to scuba diving. Water sports, like windsurfing and catamaran sailing, cost extra, which may be the trade-off for the 24-hour included room service.

Divi Little Bay Beach Resort

Calling it "Little Bay Beach Resort" actually sells it kind of shortthe resort sits on a peninsula between Little Bay and Great Bay on the Dutch side. Your package gets you meals, drinks, and snacks at three restaurants, three bars, and a sidewalk cafe. The all-inclusive plan is a recent addition to a hotel that hasn't traditionally had one, so be careful expecting it to go beyond food. Accommodations range from a beachfront guestroom to a one-bedroom suite, though all are large enough to allow four occupants. Activities here include scuba diving, catamaran sailing, and windsurfing, in addition to spa treatments at DVI. Star Wars enthusiasts may note that the "Yoda Guy Movie Exhibit" is nearby, a museum with movie memorabilia and art from Nick Maley, a creature effects artist from the Star Wars films who headed the workshop for The Empire Strikes Back and was an integral part of designing and assembling many of the movies' aliens.
