Park City Mountain Winter Activities

Park City Mountain is a resort in Utah where singles, couples, and families can escape the mundane to enjoy an outdoor adventure. At the resort, you can have as much fun in the winter as you could in the summer. Park City Mountain did not initially begin as a vacation resort. Park City’s history began 135 years ago when Army soldiers discovered silver veins in the mountains above what is now called Park City, Utah. After the discovery, a vibrant, lively city was established filled with interesting people, silver mines, busy saloons, and eventually skiing. For nearly 50 years, Park City Mountain Resort has been renowned for its excellent wintry conditions that makes it ideal for snowboarding and skiing.

NASTAR

If presented the opportunity to ski race against the clock or a friend, would you win? The NASTAR race course, located on the Blanche Run and accessed from Payday Lift, is the perfect way to test your skiing skills against the clock, a friend, relative, or even stranger. You will stand alone or side-by-side with a friend on Blanche Run and race down to a victorious finish that will be celebrated with a bronze, silver, gold, or platinum medal. NASTAR passes are available for purchase at any ticket window or right at NASTAR. NASTAR race course is only opened during the winter season.

Alpine Coaster

Fasten your seat belts for one of the best winter thrill rides of a lifetime! The Alpine Coaster is a fast-paced ride in a toboggan-style car built to accommodate up to two people. The ride begins with an automated lift system that carries you up to the top of the track while bypassing a breathtaking view of the Wasatch mountains. At the top, you are released down the track zooming through more than 4,000 feet of bends, curves, and loops. Children and adults are welcome to ride the Alpine Coaster. However, passengers under 54 inches must be accompanied by another passenger more than 54 inches tall. The Alpine Coaster ride is available during the summer season as well. Prices for the ride are the same during summer and winter, but slightly higher during the holiday season.

Viking Yurt

The Viking Yurt is an unique adventure unlike any other that takes place at the resort during the winter season. The adventure begins every evening at 6:00p.m. with a snow-cat pulled sleigh ride up the ski runs of Park City Mountain Resort for 25 minutes. During the sleigh ride, you can enjoy the luminous lights of the valley below and the twinkling stars above while you are ascending 1,000 vertical feet. After the ride ends, you are delivered directly at the yurt, which is a quaint, tent-like hideaway nestled away in a winter wonderland. The moment you arrive inside the warm yurt, you are immediately served with a hot glogg (spiced wine punch) in a pewter mug. Then, you will be served a sophisticated five-course dinner while enjoying live piano music. Reservations are required in order to participate in this event. After the winter season, the Viking Yurt is closed.
