How to Get Around in Las Vegas

If you are visiting Las Vegas, chances are you are wondering just how good public transportation is or if you should opt into renting a car. Driving yourself around isn't much of a problem in Las Vegas, as there are ample places to put your car and there are always drop off points at just about every hotel, casino and other major location. With this being said, you might find it easier, at least less expensive, to use the public transportation options when available. This way, you don't have to worry about picking up your vehicle or if you are able to drive it.

Monorail

If you've ever been to Disney World, this is exactly what the monorail system looks like in Las Vegas. At times it does seem a bit out of place, and it has that very odd, almost touristy look to it, but ultimately, the monorail system is convenient, as long as you want to stay in the downtown region and don't need to make your way to other areas of the city that are located further out. The monorail and trains in the city are owned by different entities, as some are private while others are government owned. Due to this, not all directly link up, but it does give you some inexpensive options.

Taxi

There are thousands of taxis located throughout the city and you don't really need to worry about not being able to locate one. As soon as you step outside from the hotel, restaurant or casino, you are likely to find a taxi sitting there, waiting for you. It is probably the easiest form of transportation, and while it can become pricey quickly, it is not as expensive as some of the larger cities throughout the country.

Sahara Bus Route

This bus service is designed to help individuals easily move east to west in the city. If you need to get out of the city for a spell and want to check out the attractions that are not right in the heart of the city, this bus line is perfect for you. Just make sure to not fall asleep on the bus, as the Sahara does make its way all the way to Boulder City, which would be a rather long ride back, when you wake up.

Regional Transportation System

Also known as RTC, this transportation system is going to help you move around the city without having to pay a lot of money or rent a car. This bus system is by far the cheapest offering you are going to find, although you do have to wait on the schedule of the bus service and you'll have to learn the bus routes. You can probably pick up a route map at your hotel, or at least in one of the many other restaurants and casinos found throughout the city. There are many different transportation options available when visiting the city, and the RTC is one of the best you are going to find.
