Best Hotels in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter

Hotels in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego are all close to shops, restaurants, bars, and nightlife. Many points of interest are within this 17-block area along with three theaters.

Gaslamp Plaza Suites

The Gaslamp Plaza Suites are in a 1913 building that has been well-preserved, and the original marble remains on the walls and stairs. The rooftop terrace is nice for sitting and gazing out over the city, and continental breakfast is served here every morning. There is a street-access restaurant and a wine bar. The hotel's history is the main attraction here.

Andaz San Diego

The Andaz San Diego, a Hyatt Hotel, has the latest chic contemporary decor and many dining and drinking opportunities, including a nightclub by the rooftop pool. The nightclub offers bottle service. There is also a fitness center and a wine bar with 88 wines by the glass. Guests arrive and have a seat in the lounge where they are checked in so there is no waiting in lines by the counter. Some rooms have large, posh platform beds set up like bunk beds. Some rooms also have showers and soaking tubs surrounded by glass, so the very modest will want to specify a walled-in bathroom. Breakfast and lunch are served on the rooftop, but dinner is not served in this hotel.

Hotel Solamar San Diego

The Hotel Solamar San Diego, right by the ballpark, has a restaurant and bar and 24-hour room service. Fresh seafood, grass-fed beef steaks, and seasonal dishes are featured in JSix. Loungesix, by the rooftop pool, has cocktails and snacks. Rent a cabana for the day with food and drink. The living room lobby has complementary local beers and cocktails from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Complimentary organic coffee and tea are served in the lobby living room every morning. Red bicycles are available for riding around the quarter, and guests can order gourmet picnics that fit on the bike. An onsite 24-hour fitness center and in-room spa services are available. This hotel is kid-friendly, and pets are allowed.

Hilton

The Hilton has an outdoor pool, fitness room, and a restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Cocktails are served in the lobby living space. Some rooms have whirlpool tubs. Transportation includes the iconic red trolley 100 feet from the hotel entrance, as well as pedicabs, horse-drawn carriages, and electric taxis at the hotel door for nighttime excursions. It is across the street from the San Diego Convention Center and two blocks from Petco Park. Other room options include one-bedroom suites with a few extra amenities.

Hotel Indigo

Hotel Indigo, a boutique hotel, truly is indigo on the outside. Located on 9th Avenue, it is four blocks away from the most noise in the quarter and is quiet at night. It's rooftop Level9 Bar overlooks Petco Park. The waterfall in the lobby begins to relax guests upon arrival. This LEED-certified green hotel has hardwood floors and spacious rooms. Spa-like showers and plush bedding is the norm, and pets are welcome. The Table 509 Bar & Kitchen on first floor serves all three meals.
