Best Campgrounds in North Lake Tahoe

Camping in Lake Tahoe is a great way to experience the outdoors and try different activities, such as fishing, hiking, and water sports.   • Kaspian Campground

    Kaspian Campground is near Tahoe City, making it easy to restock supplies and go into the city for the day. The campsite offers piped water, flush toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables. Trailers up to twenty feet are allowed in the campsite. Activities include going to Tahoe City and water activities on Lake Tahoe. Fees are $19-$21 per night.

  • Goose Meadow Campsite

    Goose Meadow Campsite is along the Truckee River and offers a campsite that is a little more rustic. The campsite has vault toilets, piped water, picnic tables, and fire rings. Nearby attractions include the Truckee River and Donner Lake. The fee is $20 per night.

  • Mount Rose Campground

    Mount Rose Campground is nine miles east of Lake Tahoe and at an elevation of 9,300 feet. This campsite offers spectacular views of Lake Tahoe. The campsite has piped water and flush toilets along with fire rings and picnic tables. There is a lot of hiking around this campsite, such as Mount Rose Summit Trail and Tahoe Rim Trail. Tent sites are $17 to $34 per night, and standard sites are $17 to $50 per night.

    Silver Creek Campground is located along the Truckee River. This campsite has both vault and flush toilets, piped water, fire rings, and picnic tables. Nearby attractions include Squaw Valley and Lake Tahoe. The fee is $20 per night.

    William Kent Campground is two miles south of Tahoe City. This campsite has flush toilets and piped water along with picnic tables, fire rings, a ranger station, and a dump station. The campsite is close to Tahoe City to get supplies and participate in activities in the city, while also giving campers easy access to swimming and water activities at Lake Tahoe. The campsite also had a day use area for activities at the campsite. The fees are $27 to $29 per night.

There are many activities and campsites around Lake Tahoe. Some campsites are closer to Lake Tahoe and Tahoe City, but are more crowded and do not always have a rustic camping feel that outdoor lovers might be looking for.
