Beachside in the Desert at Mandalay Bay

Opening its doors in 1999, the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino is one of the most upscale, popular, and sizable hotel properties on the Las Vegas Strip. The Mandalay Bay Resort Group-owned hotel and casino is 43 stories tall and boasts more than 3,000 rooms, but it is best known for its attached convention center, incredible outdoor swimming facilities and enormous gambling floor.

The Casino

Perhaps the biggest attraction at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino is the actual casino, which occupies more than 135,000 square feet on the main floor of the building. Visitors will find traditional table games, poker, sports betting, and thousands of slot machines with varying minimum bets. There are VIP slot rooms as well as VIP table rooms where bets are higher and guests can experience luxury treatment. On the casino floor there are several restaurants and bars that provide a place to enjoy a quick meal or drink, but those actively gambling can also order free drinks from staff to sip as they play.

The Shopping

One of the highlights of staying at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino is the onsite shopping opportunities. The Shoppes at Mandalay Place is an attached indoor shopping mall boasting clothing, furniture, musical instruments, and souvenirs for sale.

The Accommodation

Like most upscale hotels along the Las Vegas Strip, the Mandalay Bay offers a variety of rooms for guests staying overnight. Along with rooms within the main structure housing the casino, there is an additional building now associated with the resort called The Hotel. These rooms are further away from many of the hotel's attractions, but they can be quieter, and they are newly furnished. Guests at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino can choose from deluxe rooms and a variety of suites that increase in price with their quality and size.

The Dining

The Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino is home to a number of restaurants, many of which are associated with celebrity chefs. Budget eats include Starbucks, Yogurt In, and Slice of Vegas, and mid-range eateries range from Japanese sushi at Mizuya to incredible meals at the Burger Bar. Celebrity-run restaurants include Fleur by Herbert Keller, RM Seafood by Rick Moonen, and Lupo by Wolfgang Puck.

The Nightlife

From lounges to bars to live-action shows, the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino has plenty of nightlife entertainment to choose from. LIGHT nightclub is the best known nightlife spot in the hotel, but guests can also catch shows at the House of Blues or watch Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil.

The Theme and Attractions

The Mandalay Bay has a loose theme of beaches, oceans and water. Major attractions include the man-made beach open for much of the year, outdoor swimming pools, and an incredible shark reef. As one of the largest and most impressive resorts on the Las Vegas Strip, the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino is a top pick for travelers from around the world.
