A Easy Guide to Park City Mountain Skiing

Located in Park City, Utah, the Park City Mountain Resort has been known for its skiing since its opening in 1963. In 2014, Ski Magazine named Park City the #2 family vacation and #5 overall resort. From beginners to lifelong skiers, the resort has skiing options for everyone. Come play where 2014 Winter Olympians trained! The winter seasons at Park City will typically run from November to April each year.

Ski Runs

During the winter months, the resort offers day passes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Night skiing is available from December through March each year; nighttime operations will occur from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Park City's signature ski runs include eleven black diamond trails that are sure to challenge even an experienced skier.

Spread out across five mountain zones, the resort's ski runs are a great way to experience the area's annual 360-inch annual snowfall. With 114 designated trails and 750 acres of bowl skiing, there's a ski opportunity for all ages and skill levels. The total skiing area of the resort is 3,300 acres.

Ski Lessons

The Park City Ski and Snowboard Academy offers classes to suit everyone's learning style. With separate classes for younger (ages 3-5) and older (ages 6-14) children, skiers of all ages can learn in a safe environment tailored to suit their age group's needs. The Teen Select program teaches children ages 15-17 in small groups; all experience levels are invited to participate.

Adults have options for learning or honing their skiing skills through multiple camps including the women's only clinic, a three-day intensive camp, a three- to five-day camp (called Ski College), and the three-month long Masters program. The resort also offers adult group lessons that include instruction for beginner adults. Half-day training, a ladies' club, and workshops for advanced skiers allow guests to learn new techniques while also exploring the beauty of Park City.

For anyone needing one-on-one guidance, half- and full-day private lessons are available.

Park City Skiing and the Olympics

The resort has close ties to elite skiing competitors and often hosts top skiers for training. Most recently, the resort sponsored Ted Ligety (Ski Alpine), Sage Kotsenburg (Snowboard Slopestyle) and Joss Christensen (Ski Slopestyle) during the 2014 Winter Olympics. The resort also hosted the men's and women's giant slalom and two snowboarding events during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
